Round ligament pain in the second trimester

Round ligament pain is one of the most common complaints of the second trimester — a sharp, shooting pain on one or both sides of your lower abdomen that can catch you off guard when you stand up, sneeze, or roll over in bed. It's caused by the ligaments that support your growing uterus stretching and thickening under increasing weight. While it can be alarming, it's completely normal and not a sign that anything is wrong with you or your baby.

Slowing your movements, avoiding sudden position changes, and applying a warm compress can help ease the discomfort.
