How much water to drink during pregnancy
Staying well hydrated during pregnancy is more important than most people realize. Water supports amniotic fluid levels, helps form the placenta, prevents constipation and UTIs (both common in pregnancy), regulates body temperature, and reduces the frequency of Braxton Hicks contractions. The general recommendation is 8–10 cups (64–80oz) of water daily, increasing in hot weather or when exercising.
If plain water feels unappealing due to nausea, try it very cold, add fresh fruit slices or cucumber, or sip coconut water. Dark yellow urine is a reliable sign you need more fluids. Mild dehydration can trigger headaches, dizziness, and Braxton Hicks — staying ahead of thirst is the goal.
